What is Sowt?

Sowt is a social networking platform that promotes discussion and dialogue through short audio posts or microblogs.

How does Sowt work?

Once you have your account, follow people who interest you most, and start recording! In addition to creating your own posts, you can like, echo (repost), and comment on other people’s posts.

Where can I use Sowt?

In addition to the web, Sowt is available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android devices. Search your app store for “Sowt” to download our app.

How do I create a post?

To create a post, click on the “Record Now” button on the upper right-hand corner of any page. This will bring up the new post screen. Click on the microphone icon to start recording. [You may be asked to provide Sowt access to your microphone.]. Once you are done, click the crossed microphone icon to stop recording. You can add a text description, a picture, and your geographical location to your post from the same window. You can also indicate whether you would like comments to be enabled for your post.

Is there a time limit for audio recordings on Sowt?

Yes. Audio recordings on Sowt are currently limited to 42 seconds. So keep it short and sweet!

Is there a limit for the text description of a post?

Yes. Text descriptions for posts and comments are limited to 100 characters.

Do I have to include audio in my post?

Yes. Audio is required in a post. The text description, picture, and location, on the other hand, are optional.

For comments, audio is not required. You can comment on a post with audio, text, or both.

How do I comment on someone else’s post?

Click on the post. A screen will come up with details of the post and comments. Click the balloon icon and submit your comment using audio or text.

What is the “Timeline” page?

The “Timeline” page shows posts created or echoed by the people you follow.

What is the “Explore” page?

The “Explore” page allows you to browse through posts on Sowt. You can filter content by most echoed, most comments, recent, or nearby.

What is the “People” page?

The “People” page allows you to browse through the users of Sowt. Currently, this page displays people based on their signup date; those who joined most recently will appear on top.

I found a post whose content is inappropriate. What do I do?

Click on the post to bring up the more detailed screen, then click on the flag icon. Once we receive a flag request, we will review the post and determine if it requires any action.

I forgot my password. How do I retrieve it?
